With the release of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 (GP) and Business Portal for Dynamics GP 2010 (BP) right around the corner I have been taking time to check out some of the new features and functionality. One of the new enhancements that interests me that is that both products are leveraging SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services (SSRS) for the GP Home Page metrics and the BP KPIs and dashboards. These metrics, KPI's, and dashboards are essentially a dynamic graphical representation of your GP data.
What's cool about leveraging SSRS for these metrics? By using SSRS you can further explore the data displayed by clicking on a data point to drill back in to another detailed metric or report. In some instances you can even click certain data fields to open the maintenance or inquiry window in GP 2010 related to that data. Cool stuff!
Check out these examples from the GP Home page:

In the Business Portal dashboard pages have been created for executives in the following areas:
- Company Overview
- Sales
- Financials
- Human Resources
- Inventory
- Manufacturing
- Project
Here is a shot of the Sales Dashboard from the Business Portal.

There are scheduled to be over 100 fully customizable metrics that can appear on the GP Home Page or the Business Portal. These metrics and KPIs can be edited and you can even create your own custom metrics to display the data relevant to your organization.
Stay tuned for more information on GP 2010 features and functionality.
