On Thursday, October 22, 2009 the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Sustained Engineering team released Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Update Rollup 7. This update affects the following CRM components:
- CRM Server
- CRM Email Router
- CRM Outlook Client (Offline & Online)
- CRM Data Migration
- CRM SRS Connector
Key Features / Notes:
· Windows 7 Support
· Windows Server 2008 R2 Support
· Windows XP Service Pack 3 is required in order to install Update Rollup 7
· Rollup 7 enables Mobile Express for CRM
· Added threading support for CRM Outlook client to prevent Outlook from becoming unresponsive
· CRM Outlook client synchronization now supports row-level failures that prevents the entire synchronization job / process from failing
· After Update Rollup 7, administrator privileges will no longer be required on the client computer
· Additional Outlook Client improvements have been made to significantly improve the performance of the client computer
As is case with previous CRM 4.0 rollups, rollup 7 has the following characteristics:
- Update Rollup 7 is cumulative (previous rollups are not needed)
- Update Rollup 7 cannot be uninstalled on clients (server, SRS Connector, & Email Router can be uninstalled)
- Update Rollup 7 for the CRM client can be deployed independently from the Server rollup
Please review the following Microsoft documentation at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971782, for more details regarding the fixes included in this rollup. As is the case with any patch deployment, please review the documentation and perform the proper testing and planning before deploying this Rollup to your production environment.
Update Rollup 7 Build Number: 04.00.7333.2138
Key Fixes:
- No price list is displayed in the Price List lookup box if the pricelist attribute is removed and then added back to the Account form.
- You cannot distribute campaign activities if the marketing lists of the campaign contain many members, such as 150,000 members. When you do this, you receive an invalid out-of-memory exception and the job remains in a waiting state.
- You import an entity record that has a relationship to itself. When the import job is finished, the status of the imported record is still "Importing."
- When you create a custom label for a relationship between two entities, the default value instead of the custom label is displayed.
- You cannot import customizations from Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online to a Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 on-premise environment.
- When you delete records, the ExtensionBase records for the corresponding child records are not deleted as expected.
Importing / Exporting Customizations:
As with previous updates, Update Rollup 7 supports importing / exporting customizations from and to CRM deployments with the following rollups installed: Update Rollup 2, Update Rollup 3, Update Rollup 4, Update Rollup 5, and Update Rollup 6.
If a CRM deployment does not have a rollup installed, or has Update Rollup 1 installed, you should not export / import customization from / to a system that has Update Rollup 7 installed.
CRM 4.0 Client Auto Update:
Please note that the deployment of the Client rollup can be streamlined using the CRM Auto Update feature. This feature is new to CRM 4.0, and allows updates to be pushed to the CRM clients directly without a manual installation. If you would like to discuss this feature further please contact the Wipfli CRM Team. Authored by Jason Foerch - Wipfli's Microsoft Dynamics CRM Technical Lead
