On November 3, I have the pleasure of presenting my annual tax update at the WICPA’s 75th Annual Tax Conference. It is a bit frightening for me to think that I have presented at the Annual Conference for more than 20 of those years!
Where did the time go? After all these years I still wonder where I get off thinking I am capable of conveying the information necessary to help everyone get up to speed on recent developments. Rest assured, I will be going though the materials over and over again right up to the time we start on Thursday. After giving a warm up to the CPAAI in Tucson on Monday, October 24, I worked on “cleaning up” my slides on the flight home cutting out this and adding in that. Now that the “heavy lifting” is done, I am having fun!
IRS audit activity has increased substantially during the past year with legions of badly trained (or hardly trained) agents flailing away at windmills big and small. At the same time, the National Office continues to demonize the very same tax return preparers it relies upon to enforce its mandates. This has been an interesting year and this session is going to be the best ever. My primary focus is to relate current year developments (whether legislative, judicial, or regulatory) to practical planning that will help you add value to your clients.
I hope to see you there or at one of the other presentations I will be making this fall. I have updated the materials through October 28, 2011. You can download updated copies of the presentation outline, slides, and the Federal Tax Reference Data 2012 – 2006 listing here.
Please note the presentation outline is password protected. I will provide the passwords during my presentation. You do not need a password to download and open the slides or the Federal Tax Reference Data 2012-2006.
As always, let me know what you think!
