This webinar will teach you the Federal income tax requirements relating to solicitations for charitable gifts and fundraising events. We will cover the requirements for the invitations, solicitations and receipts and/or other communications to donors. For example, there are penalties for not providing the correct language in certain solicitations. Failure to properly receipt and/ or thank donors may result in a donor’s inability to actually take the deduction on their tax return. Particular aspects of an event such as raffles have special rules both relating to deductibility and potential reporting of raffle winnings.
Learn how to appropriately communicate to donors regarding their contributions. We will review how to properly establish what the amount of a donor’s charitable gift is, after valuing the goods and services that are provided in exchange for contributions and/or other payments to your organization. Lastly, we will go over examples of different types of fundraising events.
