Don’t Risk Losing Your Charitable Status: November 1 Filing/Renewal Requirements

By November 1, 2013, all 501(c)(3) charitable organizations need to comply with the requirements to pay their registration fee (due July 31) and file their financial report (1943, 1952, or 308—due within six months from their year-end). If your organization does not comply, the Department of Financial Institutions (DFI), which will assume responsibility of charitable organization compliance on November 1, 2013, can revoke your charitable status and require re-registration.
While the FAQ section on the DFI website states that there is a 60-day window to comply, organizations with year-ends of December 2012, January 2013, and February 2013 are past that window. Please read the DFI FAQs
