Wisconsin — Personal Income Tax — Fraud alert
January 29, 2009
These include telephone calls and e-mails asking for bank account and Social Security numbers in order to complete processing of the taxpayers' economic stimulus payments or tax refunds. Neither the IRS nor the Department of Revenue send unsolicited e-mails to taxpayers, and no separate applications are needed for tax refunds or stimulus payments.
