Selling a closely-held business?
The last two years have had a devastating impact on the stock market. The S&P 500 dropped in value more than 55 percent from October 2007 to March 2009 before rebounding to its current level of about 20 percent below the peak. The stock market, which consists of similar companies to many closely-held businesses, is often considered a proxy for change in value of private companies.
