Wipfli LLP, a leading national CPA and consulting firm, announced today that Gary Shutan
has been appointed geographic leader of the firm’s Chicago market. In this role, Shutan will drive and oversee marketplace, client, talent, quality, regulatory and community initiatives for the Chicago market, which includes three Chicagoland offices. Shutan succeeds Chicago partner Brian Blaha
who was recently appointed to the firmwide position of Growth Partner and assumed the role in January 2016. Blaha, who will remain in Chicago while assuming his new firm leadership role, served as the Chicago market leader for the past five years.
“We’d like to thank Brian for helping drive exponential growth in the Chicago market over the past few years and look forward to all that he will accomplish as the firm’s Growth Partner where he will lead our growth initiatives for the entire firm,” said Rick Dreher
, managing partner of Wipfli LLP.
“Gary is a proven leader with a wide range of experience and a long history in the Chicago area,” said Dreher. “His deep knowledge of the Chicago market combined with his extensive experience and his strong commitment to growth and quality client service made him a strong choice for this important position.”
With over 25 years of experience, Shutan has served hundreds of businesses in the Chicago area and Illinois. Prior to being appointed to this role, Shutan served as partner-in-charge of the firm’s Chicago North office. He also previously served as president and managing shareholder of Steinberg Advisors prior to the firm’s merger with Wipfli in January of 2016.
“I am excited to take on the role of Chicago Market Leader,” said Shutan. “Our Chicago practice is comprised of more than 100 professionals in three Chicagoland offices, making it a significant provider of accounting, tax and consulting services to businesses in Chicagoland. I look forward to continuing our significant momentum in the market, overseeing continued growth, and continuing my involvement in the Chicago community.”
A certified public accountant, Shutan is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society. He holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Indiana University and a master of business administration degree in production and operations management from Loyola University in Chicago.
