Wipfli Elects Five New Partners

Milwaukee, Wis. (August 5, 2009) — Five new partners have been elected at Wipfli LLP, a CPA and consulting firm. Paul Barstad, Bob Cedergren, Craig Cookle, Murali Iyer and Tony Kromanaker were among a group of five individuals who were elected to partner from a variety of offices in the firm.
“Each of these individuals has worked extremely hard to achieve this milestone in their careers,” Rick Dreher, Wipfli’s Chief Executive Officer said. “Their exceptional skills, expertise and dedication to their clients have helped Wipfli to grow into the firm it is today.”
Paul Barstad, Eau Claire, is in charge of the western Wisconsin manufacturing and distribution practice group and is also one of the leaders in the paperless audit movement. Barstad provides financial statement services, tax compliance and planning, and inventory consulting to his commercial clients. He is active in the community, serving as a board member of the Beaver Creek Reserve, a nonprofit organization with the goal of environmental education, and as the treasurer of the local Little League organization. He graduated from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a major in accounting.
Bob Cedergren, St. Paul, leads the firm’s risk management service line as part of Wipfli’s consulting practice. With 20 years of experience, he provides risk management services to clients, including business risk assessments, internal and IT audits, business continuity planning, strategic planning, and technical security assessments. Bob specializes in the regulated financial services sector. He is an instructor for the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking and frequently speaks at the Minnesota and Wisconsin Bankers Associations. Active in his community, Cedergren is on the board of the Wildwood Lion’s Club and is the committee chair and an active member of Boy Scout Troop 89, both in Mahtomedi.In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), he holds several professional certifications including Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), and Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT). Cedergren is also a Certified Process Master and ITIL certified. Cedergren earned a bachelor of accounting degree from the University of Minnesota.
Craig Cookle, Milwaukee, has over 20 years of state and local tax experience. He serves a variety of industry sectors, helping clients maximize state and local tax savings (SALT) and work towards efficient resolution of state audits. Cookle devotes part of his time serving the SALT clients needs from Wipfli’s Madison office as well. Cookle, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting.
Murali Iyer, Madison and Milwaukee, works across all industries bringing the right solutions to fruition. With nearly 20 years of information technology experience, he helps clients achieve their business goals through implementation of strategic IT Solutions and Smart Sourcing. Iyer is a frequent speaker and panelist in forums such as Marquette University, UW Whitewater, Wisconsin Innovation Network, and PMI Bangalore India Chapter. He earned degrees in physics, chemistry, and mathematics from Bangalore University and attended Marquette University Graduate School for Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science.
Tony Kromanaker, Appleton, works with owners and key executives of closely held manufacturing and distribution companies, providing tax consulting, planning, and compliance services. With over 13 years of audit and tax experience at a national public accounting firm and over 5 years of experience as a tax manager for a large, closely held, diversified manufacturer in the Fox Valley, Kromanaker is able to explain complicated tax matters in an easy-to-understand fashion. Kromanaker is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, earning his bachelor of business administration degree in comprehensive accounting.
