Brian Buchholz offers highly acclaimed consultative services to clients throughout the community banking industry. Brian’s knowledge and insight in the area provide his clients with the depth of information necessary to be successful in today’s increasingly competitive environment.
With over 20 years of experience serving financial institutions, Brian has developed an extensive base of knowledge in this area and provides expert consultation services on a full spectrum of issues relevant to financial institutions and their owners.
Brian has developed an expertise in bank mergers and acquisitions and ownership changes, on both the buy and sell sides. Recent transactions include assisting:
- Two family-owned and two closely held community banks in the sale process, obtaining premium prices in all cases
- An investment group in the formation of a bank holding company and acquisition of a community bank and a branch of a large, regional bank
- A community bank in forming a bank holding company to redeem certain shareholders and subsequently acquire another community bank
- A multibank holding company in acquiring its twelfth community bank in a transaction that had numerous, complex accounting issues
- Several community banks in acquisitions of bank branches from other banks
Brian also has significant experience in reverse stock splits and reorganizations in connection with family estate planning and S-corporation conversions.
Professional Organizations and Activities
Brian is a member of the American and Wisconsin Institutes of Certified Public Accountants and also a member of the Wipfli Financial Institutions Group. He is past president and a current active member of the Chippewa Valley Bankers Association. Brian is also past president and director of Community Bank Advisory Network, a nationwide network of CPA firms that have significant community banking practices.
