Jim Butler is the partner in charge of the Madison region.  Jim wants to see closely held, family-owned businesses succeed and be profitable. By listening, then leading, Jim guides family businesses through common—and sometimes difficult—profitability issues and growing pains.  Jim’s clients find his expertise invaluable in planning and implementing complex strategies: profit improvement, mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, management team development, compensation structuring, tax planning, and ownership transfers.
 
Clients find Jim to be creative and innovative in planning for tax minimization. His knowledge of highly technical federal and state tax laws allows him to assist clients to take full advantage of these tax laws.
 
In Jim's free time he enjoys spending time with his family and flying his airplane.
 
Professional Organizations and Activities
Jim serves as the chair on the YMCA board and the executive committee and is a member of the Finance Committee and New Opportunities Committee.  He is also a member of the Madison Downtown Rotary Club.
