Bob Cottingham is a partner in Wipfli’s Madison office where he leads the tax practice. Bob assists closely held companies and individuals with managing their tax planning and compliance needs. In addition, he advises taxpayers about entity structure, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, worldwide tax minimization strategies, and general corporate, flow-through, and individual tax matters. He possesses over 17 years of experience with national accounting firms and has spent his entire career in the tax consulting side of accounting. Bob has worked closely with multiple foreign locations in delivery of client services, including coordination of audit and tax compliance services.

Bob believes that to serve effectively as a business advisor to his clients, it is imperative to listen proactively to their unique needs and objectives. He then identifies innovative yet resourceful business and tax strategies to fit those needs and objectives.

Professional Organizations and Activities

Bob is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA), Federal Tax Committee (chairperson 2005-2006), the Madison International Trade Association, the Madison West Lions Club (past president), and Leadership Greater Madison 12. He also serves as a board member and treasurer of the Madison Ballet.
