Jim Garvey is the leader of our Health Care Operations Consulting Practice. This practice works with health care organizations to improve and sustain operational performance and positively impact patient care delivery.

Jim has over 25 years of experience in operations at the executive-leadership level within hospitals and health systems across urban and rural settings. A proven and respected executive, Jim has a strong track record of organizational performance improvement from a patient care, cost, and revenue perspective. He has extensive experience improving core business and care delivery processes and delivering operating efficiencies, while enhancing quality outcomes. Jim is also an effective leader through his abilities to manage change, build physician and staff relationships, engage people, and communicate effectively.

Prior to joining Wipfli, Jim was an operations executive with a large integrated delivery system in Minneapolis. In that position, he was responsible for the daily leadership of clinical service lines (hospital and ambulatory), ancillary services, and facilities operations within the state’s leading Trauma Center. In addition, he was responsible for the development and operations of a new medical campus, including a new hospital, ambulatory care center, and medical office building. Jim has also held executive-level positions in regional and national health systems and within a large health care alliance organization.

Professional Organizations and Activities

Jim is a board member and vice president of a local college foundation, as well as an advisor to a number of “start up” business ventures serving the health care industry. He is also a longstanding member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
