 “Think big, start small” may be Systems Consulting Group, Inc.’s business philosophy, but it also describes Wipfli’s approach in partnering with the thriving information technology firm. As a start-up firm in need of tax planning and financial statement assistance, Systems Consulting Group, Inc., (SCG) had big dreams and visions for its company’s future. Wipfli worked with the firm at its inception, helping to manage its financial needs, both big and small. 

The Strategy

In its beginning, SCG did not have a lot of clients or employees, but the owners did have a clear idea of what they wanted to accomplish. They wanted sustained profitability and growth, but more importantly, they wanted to build a company on a solid foundation of defined methodologies and development standards, effective technical tools, and a high-morale culture. With these objectives in mind, Wipfli developed a partnership that answered their needs, as well as their wants.

The Results

These days, SCG and Wipfli are still thinking big together. SCG has grown in revenues, clients, and employees, and Wipfli professionals continue to recognize opportunities that ensure SCG’s continued success. The modified stock-option plan has helped SCG reduce turnover, maintain its company culture, and is a valuable recruiting tool. And when one of the owners decided to leave the business, Wipfli managed the transfer in ownership to ensure a positive succession.
