Some years ago, we had a "penalty tax" for accumulating "too much" in a retirement plan. That potential penalty tax, plus the falling income tax rates, called for us to evaluate whether continuing income tax deferral with deductible retirement plan contributions was worthwhile. Ultimately, not many doctors chose to stop funding their retirement plans. Today’s question, “To Roth or Not to Roth Your 401(k)?” calls for a similar analysis.
