For the last 15 years, the healthcare industry has been inundated with noise about HIPAA compliance and risk management. But in the last five years, healthcare has become ground zero for attacks and healthcare industry media resources’ “go-to news” for cyberattacks and breaches. During this session you will hear from a 40-year-career security professional — who has developed, led and audited many security programs — about why it’s important to start taking cybersecurity seriously, including the criticality to your business and patient safety. In addition, you will learn why this is not an information technology issue and obtain useful advice on what you can do without “breaking the bank.”

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand why healthcare cybersecurity is critically important to small healthcare organizations.
  2. Find out about the latest security breaches impacting small healthcare organizations and the outcome.
  3. Understand what security risks are the most important to healthcare organizations in 2020.
  4. Determine what free or low-cost resources are available to healthcare organizations.
  5. Discuss why a virtual healthcare security officer might be your best resource.

Presenter: Rick Ensenbach, CISSP, CISA, CISM, ISSMP, CCSFP

  1. Understand accounting for non-RHC activities and carve-outs.
  2. Evaluate accumulating encounter statistics.
  3. Discuss allocating hospital shared costs to the RHC.

Many RHCs are looking for ways to expand the breadth and depth of services provided to their community. Identifying new services, evaluating options and integrating selected services in the RHC can be a daunting task. In this session, we will share strategies to identify services that may be needed in the community, as well as how to evaluate, introduce and/or expand new services that meet those needs.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify sources of data used in evaluating the need for services in the community.
  2. Evaluate the benefits of potential new services that can be offered in the RHC setting.
  3. Consider the financial and operational challenges of introducing new services or care delivery.

Presenter: Jeff Bramschreiber, CPA
