We have been made aware of a couple of issues that Microsoft has discovered with clients that upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics® GP 2010 and are using Payroll. The identified issues are as follows:
- Issue #59406: When Payroll is posted to your General Ledger, if your Posting Setup is marked to “Create a Journal Entry Per Batch”, the Journal Entry will be created incorrectly.
The current workaround is to change the Posting Setup to “Create a Journal Entry per Transaction.” What you will see if you change this setting is that the General Ledger will display a separate journal entry for each transaction/employee. This may increase the length of the Detailed Trial Balance as well because of the amount of transactions in each account.
This issue was a result of the Payroll Tax Update recently released (and applied).
- Issue #59114: When Direct Deposit is set up and “Updating Bank Reconciliation with One Lump Sum” is marked, the results in Bank Reconciliation are incorrect. You may see some or all of the following: activity in Bank Reconciliation with an incorrect check date, with a $0 transaction amount, or the Lump Sum amount being incorrect.
The current workaround for this is to post in detail for Bank Reconciliation. If you change this setting in the Direct Deposit Setup window, what you will see in the Select Bank Transactions window will be a separate CHK transaction for each employee rather than one total amount for all Employee Earnings Statements.
This issue was a result of the RTM Release of Microsoft Dynamics® GP 2010 being used.
Both of the above issues will be corrected in the next Microsoft Dynamics® GP 2010 service pack scheduled for release in September.
If you are looking to upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics® GP 2010, you need to consider if either of these issues will affect your Microsoft Dynamics® GP environment. Do you use the modules? If you implement the workarounds temporarily, what will that affect? Will it affect reporting or integrations between systems? If you have questions regarding these issues and how they might impact your environment, please contact your Microsoft Dynamics® GP consultant and we can clarify for you.
