On Thursday, July 2, 2009 the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Sustained Engineering team released Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Update Rollup 5. This update affects the following CRM components:
- CRM Server
- CRM Email Router
- CRM Outlook Client (Offline & Online)
- CRM Data Migration
- CRM SRS Connector
As is case with previous CRM 4.0 rollups, rollup 5 has the following characteristics:
- Update Rollup 1, Update Rollup 2, Update Rollup 3, and Update Rollup 4 are not prerequisites for installing Update Rollup 5
- Update Rollup 5 can be uninstalled
- Update Rollup 5 for the CRM client can be deployed independently from the Server rollup
Please review the following Microsoft documentation at: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=970141, for more details regarding the fixes included in this rollup. As is the case with any patch deployment, please review the documentation and perform the proper testing and planning before deploying this Rollup to your production environment.
Update Rollup 5 Build Number: 4.00.7333.1644
Key Fixes:
- KB959072: An entity form load slowly after you add many fields of several different attribute types in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0
- KB971354: Microsoft Outlook crashes when you enable the "Track in CRM" feature for a delegate contact after you install Update Rollup 4 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0
- KB972501: The Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 client for Outlook does not load the toolbar
- Microsoft Dynamics CRM may not invoke the OnChange event when the event is associated with a date time field in certain scenarios. For example, when you manually enter the value of a time in a text box that is associated with the date time field, you do not invoke the OnChange event.
- Consider the following scenario. The Microsoft Dynamics CRM Async service processes a query. The query moves the Async operations from a suspended state to a ready state. In this scenario, Microsoft Dynamics CRM may crash, and you receive an error on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server. Additionally, you may experience slow performance when you open forms or save records.
Importing / Exporting Customizations:
As with previous updates, Update Rollup 5 supports importing / exporting customizations from and to CRM deployments with the following rollups installed: Update Rollup 2, Update Rollup 3, and Update Rollup 4.
If a CRM deployment does not have a rollup installed, or has Update Rollup 1 installed, you should not export / import customization from / to a system that has Update Rollup 5 installed.
CRM 4.0 Client Auto Update:
Please note that the deployment of the Client rollup can be streamlined using the CRM Auto Update feature. This feature is new to CRM 4.0, and allows updates to be pushed to the CRM clients directly without a manual installation. If you would like to discuss this feature further please contact the Wipfli CRM Team.
