Wipfli's Critical Access Hospitals Conference Draws Attendees from 12 States
February 8, 2007
MINNEAPOLIS — On February 8-9, 2007, over 100 people from 12 different states converged at the Holiday Inn Select Hotel & Suites (Three Appleton Square) in Bloomington, Minn. for the sixth annual Critical Access Hospital Knowledge Workshop. Hosted by Wipfli LLP (an accounting and business consulting firm with locations throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota), the workshop provided educational opportunities to health care industry professionals operating critical access hospitals (CAH).
At the workshop's many seminars, attendees enhanced their cost reimbursement knowledge and learned how to promote the long-term success of their CAH. Administrators/CEOs, CFOs/controllers, directors of finance, and reimbursement analysts enhanced their knowledge on topics such as:
- emerging issues in federal provider reimbursement
- decision making and strategy development (especially regarding reimbursement)
- strategic financial planning
- swing bed strategies
- identifying problematic areas of the chargemaster
- the Medicare cost report
"This seminar was excellent," says workshop attendee Scott Polenz, assistant administrator of Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville, Wis. "I have been to many in my career but none as comprehensive as this one. My only difficulty was choosing which sessions to attend."
Next year's Critical Access Hospital Knowledge Workshop will be held in February 7-8, 2008 (again at the Holiday Inn Select Hotel & Suites in Bloomington, Minn.) For further details on the 2008 CAH Knowledge Workshop, call Sylvia Weise at (715) 858-6631.
