Brent Burgie

Brent Burgie is a senior manager with Wipfli’s national tax office. He has over 16 years of experience working in tax controversy, helping clients navigate and resolve complex disputes with the Internal Revenue Service. Based in Denver, Colorado, he works closely with businesses and individuals across a range of industries to manage audits, administrative appeals and other federal tax controversy matters with clarity and confidence.

Brent focuses on representing clients throughout the IRS examination, collection and appeals processes, including drafting audit responses, formal protests and other technical submissions. He advises on federal income tax, employment tax, excise tax and other penalty matters to help clients evaluate hazards of litigation and settlement strategies to reach practical and efficient resolutions. His work includes coordinating with all IRS business units and developing firmwide guidance on emerging federal tax controversy issues.
