Jeff Kowieski, CPA, JD

Jeff Kowieski is a partner and the general counsel for Wipfli. He is a member of the firm’s senior leadership team with responsibility for the firm’s legal and risk management functions. With help from his team and other leaders, Jeff’s primary responsibilities include:

• Advising the firm’s senior leadership and firm leaders on legal, risk, governance, ethical, operational and strategic matters
• Working closely with firm leaders and outside counsel as a member of the firms’ M&A team
• Managing the firm’s insurance portfolio and relationships
• Managing professional liability and other litigation
• Ownership of the firm’s partnership agreement and long-term thinking about the structure of that agreement
• Managing a team responsible for contract negotiation
• Managing a team responsible for firm licensing and regulatory compliance
• Managing relationships with outside counsel

Jeff has previously served as Wipfli’s chief operating officer and as a member of the firm’s board of directors. His practice background is in the tax arena, focused on high-value transactional structuring matters, including M&A transaction structuring, entity planning, and estate and business succession planning. Prior to joining Wipfli, Jeff practiced law with a prominent Wisconsin law firm. 

In addition to being a lawyer, Jeff is proud to be a CPA and a well-known and active leader in several groups which serve the profession’s leadership. He is a board member or trustee for several philanthropic organizations.
