RIP strategic planning: It's now all about future planning

3. Assign triggers. Don’t wait to “see what happens.” Scenario planning works when it’s actionable. Define clear thresholds that signal which plan to follow — such as a drop in demand, interest rate hikes or new legislation.
4. Align leadership on the trade-offs. These conversations aren’t just operational — they’re cultural. Good scenario planning clarifies what your business values most and where you’re willing to bend.
5. Revisit regularly. Your scenarios shouldn’t sit on a shelf. Build in check-ins (quarterly or biannually) to adjust your assumptions, reprioritize responses, and update your models.
