Wipfli names Michael Vesel new Financial Institutions Practice Leader

Wipfli, one of the top 20 CPA and consulting firms, announced today that it has appointed Michael (Mike) Vesel as the leader of the firm’s Financial Institutions Industry Practice. In his new role, Vesel will oversee the fast-growing Wipfli Financial Institutions Practice, which currently has 122 dedicated professionals serving over 800 financial institutions across the Midwest and the country. He will also be responsible for the overall financial results, strategic direction, and development of services within the practice, as well as partner and associate development.
A financial institutions partner with Wipfli, Vesel has a 35-year track record in client service with a wide range of financial institutions, and has firm leadership experience as past vice chairman and member of the firm’s Board of Directors. He succeeds JoAnn Cotter, who has held the role since 2005 and was recently appointed Industry Leader for the firm, a position that oversees all of the firm’s industry practices.

Based in Wausau, Wisconsin, Vesel has extensive knowledge in several financial institution-related industry areas and previously was in charge of the audit and accounting group for the financial institutions practice. Throughout his career, he has devoted significant time helping financial institutions to succeed.
A certified public accountant, Vesel is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In addition, he is the finance committee chairman and executive committee member for Newman Catholic Schools, a trustee of the Newman Catholic Schools Endowment Trust, and past president of Everest Optimists Club.
Vesel holds a bachelor of business administration in comprehensive public accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
