Wipfli Appoints Maureen Pistone as Chief Human Resources Officer

Monday, May 14, 2018

Wipfli LLP (Wipfli), a top 20 national accounting and consulting firm, welcomed Maureen Pistone earlier this month as a member of the executive leadership team and their new Chief Human Resources Officer. A seasoned senior human resources business executive with over 25 years of experience, Pistone brings a passion for cultural stewardship, development and performance excellence to the firm.

“We strongly value our dedicated associates who make Wipfli the great firm it is today,” says Wipfli’s Managing Partner Rick Dreher. “Maureen's breadth of experience in engaging employees at a high-level makes her a welcome addition to the leadership of the firm."

Organic growth and recent firm combinations across the nation have rapidly expanded Wipfli’s footprint and brought new opportunities to streamline managing and developing talent — this is where Pistone’s expertise especially shines. Joining the firm from a long career at ThedaCare, a regional health care system employing over 6,500 people, Pistone has a history of improving talent development core processes, as well as the foundation of the internal communications function to further engage the employee base.

“As Wipfli continues its exciting path of development and transformation, Maureen’s skills and background are an ideal fit to help us achieve our goals,” says partner and Talent and Culture executive Bill Laakso. Based in Wipfli’s Green Bay office, Pistone will oversee all functions of the Talent and Culture department — working in tandem with Laakso until his retirement later this year.

Pistone is no stranger to casting a vision for organizational effectiveness within a large company, and that will be needed as the accounting and consulting industries continue to evolve with new technologies and a new type of workforce. Laakso notes that her “broad human resource leadership experience will help Wipfli solve the talent challenges facing businesses in the 21st century.”

As an active leader in her community, Pistone extends her focus of meaningful relationships by serving as a lifetime supporter of United Way Fox Cities, a member of the Leader’s Board for National Healthcare Executives, and as a board member of NEW North, a regional marketing and economic development organization.

Pistone holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in industrial relations from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.
