Why Attend

They have been decades in the making, and they are here! The Office of Head Start has issued the Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS). But what exactly does this mean for your organization? And how quickly do you need to act?

Join us to learn what has changed, what stays the same, and the timelines associated with implementation of the HSPPS. We will integrate details from the Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007 (the “Head Start Act”). In addition to helping you remain calm, our goal is to help you learn how these new standards affect your programs, including exploring the new structure and discussing how the requirements impact your day-to-day operations.

For professionals new to the organization and for those who have been serving children and families for decades, if you administer a Head Start/Early Head Start (HS/EHS) program, these two days are designed just for you!

Review the regulations you need to know to stay in compliance through examples, stories, and best practices learned from years of experience. Take back up-to-date and relevant information to implement immediately in your agency.

Wipfli’s nonprofit experts have been presenting the highest-quality training for more than 40 years. Participants declare Wipfli training “empowering,” “outstanding,” “meaningful,” “invaluable,” and “relevant.”

There are new HSPPS, with pages of guidelines that programs need to follow to implement (or prepare to implement) to stay in compliance. When you balance that with the multiple references to the Head Start Act from 2007, it can be a process. We are here to help!

During this one-day intense overview, we will explore the new standards. We will pay special attention to the areas of:

  • Structure change (1301-1311 are now 1301-1305, and everything is moved around)
  • Implementation timelines (from November 7, 2016, to August 1, 2021)
  • Service duration (annual hours of services, 50% implementation to 100% implementation)
  • Impasse processes (to help governing board and policy councils in decision making)
  • Effective management initiatives (reducing bureaucratic burden)

And we will highlight the continued areas of the following:

  • Board and policy council involvement
  • Serving children with disabilities
  • Classroom structures
  • Designation renewal
  • Facilities
  • Grants administrative guidelines
  • And more!

It promises to be a power-packed day.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Review the new HSPPS.
  2. Discuss how new sections of the HSPPS impact programs.
  3. Explore finding your own answers in the requirements
