The Alliance for Strong Families and Communities saw itself as an incubator for learning and innovation — but business systems were holding the organization back. Its accounting system was old and difficult to support. Enter Wipfli.

The Challenge

The Alliance for Strong Families and Communities was using an aging accounting solution that couldn’t scale to match the organization’s growth. Reporting options were limited and labor-intensive to create. The Alliance needed a scalable accounting solution, greater business intelligence and simpler-to-pull reports. It also needed help making the transition.

The Solution

The Alliance chose Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as its solution and Wipfli as its implementation partner. Moving to a cloud-based solution eliminated labor-intensive data processing steps and gave the nonprofit much-needed business insight. Using an experienced implementation partner meant the Alliance could learn to use Business Central to its fullest extent and maximize its technology investment.

Wipfli’s user manuals improved our learning curve. They are written by finance people for finance people.

The results

Business Central proved its worth almost immediately. It takes the Alliance about 15 seconds to generate income statements in Dynamics SL, a process that used to take up to two hours. It no longer needs spreadsheets or emails to track approvals. Instead, invoice routing is digital and automated. And the Alliance is more confident about security since it gets frequent software updates from Microsoft. Alliance users were trained by Wipfli as implementation partners, so they can help the entire nonprofit network achieve similar results.
