The Challenge

Allstar’s incoming leadership team needed to drive rapid expansion, growing from one Minnesota brand to 16 across 22 states. The new HR team was under-resourced for complex payroll needs, relying on manual, dual-entry, error-prone tracking. It lacked connected systems and consistent tax, regulatory and payroll guidance. The pending employee and job volume increase required superior tracking, budgeting, reporting and compliance.

The Solution

Wipfli went beyond a technology implementation to revolutionize Allstar’s HR and payroll capabilities. The team:

  • Implemented the iSolved platform for payroll, onboarding, benefits, reporting, carrier connections and applicant tracking.
  • Set up API integration for bi-directional data flow between iSolved (payroll, new employees) and other functions, including timekeeping, new jobs, accounting, general ledger and finance.
  • Created a chart of accounts for accurate wage allocation, as well as managed large-scale employee data imports, mass system updates and significant system reconfigurations.

Provided ongoing guidance and proactive communications on tax and regulatory changes, and created reporting for accounting, finance, budgeting and real-time job costing.
