With the release of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018 R2, there is a new tab on the home page called Intelligent Cloud Insights. If you’ve seen it, you might be wondering what it does and how it benefits you.
The Intelligent Cloud Insights gives you the ability to keep Dynamics GP data on premises, with the benefit of putting some of your data in the cloud with Dynamics 365 Business Central. When you connect your on-premises Dynamics GP data to the intelligent cloud, you get access to Power BI, Microsoft Flow, PowerApps, machine learning and other valuable services. You can synchronize your data to the cloud to leverage machine learning and business intelligence capabilities to provide insights and actionable messages, as well as drive suggested actions — further enabling your business to run even better.
When the connection is made, your on-premises data is securely replicated to the intelligent cloud. You simply decide which companies you want to replicate and then, within the home page of Dynamics GP, you’ll see actionable analysis and content.
The data replicated is a one-way connection of your Dynamics GP data to Business Central. This means you don’t have the ability to write data or enter transactions in Business Central and have that replicated to Dynamics GP. But with Intelligent Cloud Insights, you get the benefit of Power BI reports, KPIs and analysis anytime, anywhere and on any device.
The following data can be replicated:
- GL Accounts and Current Balances
- Customers and Open Receivables Transactions
- Vendors and Open Payables Transactions
- Items and Quantity on Hand
Future releases will include the replication of historical data.
