Special Speakers
Nathan Baugh, Director of Government Relations | NARHCNathan was hired at Capitol Associates, a government relations firm specializing in Health Care policy, in April of 2015 to work on Rural Health Clinic issues. He was first exposed to health care issues in the summer of 2011 when he worked as an intern for Capitol Associates. Nathan graduated from the College of William and Mary in 2012 with a bachelor of arts in Government and immediately began working for a logistics firm in Norfolk, VA. After a year, he returned to his native California and began working on various political campaigns while interning for Representative Juan Vargas (CA-51). Nathan has penned a number of articles on both the broader trends in health care policy and detailed changes to the Rural Health Clinic Program. He specializes in PQRS, Essential Community Provider, and Chronic Care Management issues as they relate to Rural Health Clinics.
Brock Slabach, Senior Vice President Members Services – NRHA
Brock joined NRHA in 2008. He has administrative responsibility for all areas of member services, including membership, communications, and meetings/exhibitions. Brock was a rural hospital administrator for more than 21 years. He has been on the board of the National Rural Health Association and the regional policy board of the American Hospital Association, as well as many regional and state boards involving rural health.

Lori is a shareholder with Hall Render, the nation’s largest law firm focused exclusively on matters related to health care organizations. She assists clients in the analysis of general health law matters and regulatory issues, including accreditation, certification, licensure, billing and payment, compliance, Medicare appeals, fraud and abuse, and Stark. She advises a variety of health care clients including health care systems, hospitals, group practices, diagnostic centers, and long-term care facilities. Lori is also a CPA and practiced in public accounting prior to practicing law.
